The air fryer has become one of the easiest ways to get a quick dinner on the table.
It’s fast, convenient and particularly good at creating those golden, crisp edges we all love.
Add a good seasoning and you don’t need to do much else.
A little oil and a few shakes of your favourite blend can transform basic chicken, potatoes or vegetables into something far more interesting.
Air Fryer Chicken Breast
Chicken breast is convenient, but it can be fairly uninspiring without enough seasoning.
Lightly coat the chicken with oil before adding your chosen seasoning. Make sure the surface is evenly covered and cook until the chicken is cooked through.
Changing your seasoning is one of the easiest ways to keep chicken dinners interesting.
Go smoky and BBQ-inspired one day, Cajun the next and perhaps Greek or kebab-inspired later in the week.
Same chicken. Completely different meal.
Chicken Thighs
Chicken thighs work particularly well in the air fryer because they stay juicy while developing great colour on the outside.
They’re ideal for stronger seasoning blends and can be served with rice, salad, vegetables, flatbreads or fries.
Air Fryer Wings
For wings, season generously before cooking.
Buffalo Dust is particularly at home here, but don’t feel that you always have to choose a traditional wing flavour.
Experimenting with world-inspired seasonings can completely change a batch of wings.
Serve them with one of our easiest tricks: stir a little of the same seasoning into mayonnaise or sour cream and use it as a dip.
Fries
Cook your fries until crisp and season them as soon as they come out of the air fryer.
Because they’re still hot, the seasoning sticks beautifully.
It’s also an easy way to create several different flavours of fries from the same bag of potatoes.
Potato Wedges
Cut potatoes into wedges, add a little oil and coat them in seasoning before air frying.
Serve alongside burgers, chicken, steak or simply with a bowl of seasoned mayo.
Sometimes the side dish ends up stealing the show.
Roast-Style Potatoes
You can also make smaller roast-style potatoes in the air fryer.
Parboil if that’s your preferred method, rough up the edges, add oil and seasoning and cook until golden and crisp.
Garlic, herb, smoky and spicy seasonings all work well.
Air Fryer Vegetables
Broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, courgettes and mushrooms can all benefit from a good shake of seasoning.
The high heat helps produce caramelised edges while the seasoning gives the vegetables much more character.
It’s a particularly useful trick if you’re trying to make vegetables feel like a proper part of the meal rather than an afterthought.
Salmon
Brush salmon lightly with oil before adding seasoning and air frying.
Cajun-style flavours work particularly well, but garlic, herb and chilli blends can be just as good.
Serve with rice, potatoes, salad or vegetables for a simple midweek meal.
Halloumi
Seasoning isn’t just for meat.
Air-fried halloumi works brilliantly with chilli, Mediterranean and kebab-style flavours.
Add it to wraps, salads or flatbreads with seasoned yoghurt and fresh vegetables.
Quick Chicken Strips
Slice chicken into strips, season and air fry until cooked and lightly crisp.
You can use them in wraps, loaded fries, salads and sandwiches, meaning one batch of chicken can become several different meals.
More Flavour Without Making Dinner Complicated
That’s one of the biggest advantages of keeping a good selection of seasonings in the cupboard.
You don’t need a complicated recipe every night.
Pick the main ingredient, choose a flavour, add your seasoning and let the air fryer do the rest.
Quick, easy and packed with flavour.
